Dr Borjana Barth

Dr Borjana Barth is a Queensland-trained Urologist, Urological Surgeon and Specialist Uro-Oncologist (urological cancer surgeon).

Known for her leadership, expertise and dedication to her patients, Dr Barth was formerly the Director of Urology at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Here she has invested over 5 years building a department with the goal of providing a comprehensive range of urological services for all members of the Sunshine Coast community.

After completing a Graduate Degree in Medicine in Germany’s leading research university, LMU Munich, Dr Barth travelled to the United States where she undertook Internship in Houston, Detroit. Meeting her husband, Dr Barth elected to further expand her professional acumen with training in Switzerland, followed by the United Kingdom.

Recruited by Queensland Health, Dr Barth worked in Toowoomba Base and Greenslopes Hospitals, where she unveiled her love for urology and with the support of her surgeon mentors, was successfully admitted to specialist training.

Dr Barth’s passion for the Sunshine Coast was first ignited during her early surgical training, when she served as a general surgical junior registrar during two separate rotations at Nambour Hospital. Following five comprehensive years of advanced surgical training in South-East Queensland, Dr Barth was granted Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Uro-Oncology and General Urology in 2014. She was offered a Staff Specialist position at Nambour Hospital in 2015, and true to her word, relocated her growing family to dedicate herself to the Coast’s specialist urological needs.

Teaching and Mentorship: Dr Barth was the proud recipient of the Sunshine Coast Clinical School’s Annual Teaching Award for Surgical Specialties (2014). She is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and her tuition is highly regarded by fellow surgeons, trainees, medical students, nursing and allied healthcare team members.

Executive and Community Achievements: Dr Barth is dedicated to the Sunshine Coast Community and is conducting regular education sessions for the medical workforce and was formerly a member of the Executive Leadership and Clinical Council at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
