The Oncology Unit at Noosa Hospital is a friendly and relaxing day facility providing outstanding care to patients requiring oncology and haematology treatments.

Located in a beautiful bush setting, the Oncology Unit provides a range of services for the treatment of cancer and other conditions to both public and private patients. Those holidaying on the Sunshine Coast and Noosa area are also welcome. Services include:

  • Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy
  • Iron Infusions
  • Blood Products
  • Immunoglobulins
  • Venesections
  • Portacath Flushes
  • Rheumatology and Gastroenterology Infusions

Our Specialists

Noosa Hospital’s Oncology and Haematology Unit gives patients access to treatment promptly and locally. Our experienced and knowledgeable Oncologists and Haematologists include:

Throughout the course of treatment patients are seen regularly by their specialist. At these visits, the specialist will monitor progress and assist in the management of side effects or other symptoms.  Patient care is planned in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, radiologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and nurses to provide patients with the best choices in treatments.

Patients are supported by a committed and caring team of advanced practitioners with a long history of treating the local community and networking with GP’s.  Care of patients within the Hospital and the community is further enhanced by a 24 hour Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit if needed.

The Noosa Hospital has breast care certified nurses to provide resources and support to patients referred for surgical procedures.  The Allied Health department are also available to provide services such as rehabilitation, dietetics and speech therapy if required.

Comfort and Care

Noosa Hospital provides a relaxed, comfortable and fun environment for both patients and carers. Treatment is provided in comfortable reclining chairs. IPads are available for use throughout the stay for each treatment chair and WiFi is available for no extra fee. Newspapers and magazines are available for reading. Tea and coffee facilities and light snacks or sandwiches are available for patients receiving treatment. Special dietary needs can be catered for on request.

The Unit is staffed by a team of experienced, dedicated and approachable nurses who deliver care to patients with kindness and empathy. The team is committed to looking after the holistic wellbeing of patients and seeks to ensure all patients are recognised as individuals.

The Unit has a superb team of volunteers who ensure patient comfort is their highest priority. Volunteers provide patients with foot, hand and/or head massage if desired and serve drinks and snacks throughout the stay.

Visitors

A carer/visitor is welcome to sit with the patient whilst they receive treatment.  A relaxing outdoor deck area is available if additional supporters wish to visit.

Referral Process

Patients may be referred to one of the specialists at the Noosa Hospital Oncology Unit by their GP or other specialist.  Please contact our friendly staff for further support with your referral.
