Dr Amy O’Connor is a Queensland trained Specialist Plastic Surgeon and in 2018 was the founding Clinical Director of Plastic Surgery Unit at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH). 

After completing her Plastic Surgery Fellowship in 2013, she spent 5 years overseas progressing head and neck resection and reconstruction, melanoma management, breast reconstruction, hand and burns surgery and is comprehensively trained in paediatric and adult reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

In cofounding the SCUH Plastic Surgery Unit, she has a strong commitment to, and has rapidly expanded the delivery of specialist plastic surgical services on the Sunshine Coast. She is the recent chair of the Skin and Melanoma Multidisciplinary Meeting (MDT) and member of the Breast, Head and Neck MDTs. The highly successful plastic surgery skin cancer service established at SCUH in 2018, was awarded the State Winner of the 2019 Queensland Government Winner for Excellence in Health Care.  

While maintaining an ongoing commitment to the public health service and teaching the next generation of clinicians.

Amy consults at Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and focused on, but not limited to skin cancer resection and reconstruction in her private practice, with enquiries welcome. Her working philosophy is that of excellence with integrity in the care of her patients.   

Outside of an operating theatre she is most happy by the ocean with her boys.
