Dr John Endacott

Dr John Endacott is a Specialist Geriatrician practising at Noosa Hospital. He is available to accept referrals for the care of older people for inpatient care, day services and outpatient care.

Dr Endacott’s services include:

  • Outpatient clinic
  • Inpatient care
  • Restorative care programs in day services
  • Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) visiting service for Comprehensive Geriatrics Assessment and Management

John has always considered it an honour and a privilege to care for the elders of our community. His first experience in the care of older people was through his work as a Nursing Assistant in a nursing home whilst he was at university. A graduate of Monash University, he subsequently trained at Box Hill Hospital and The Alfred in Melbourne, the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and then completed the final year of his Advanced Training in Geriatrics at Nambour Hospital in 2006.

John worked as a consultant Geriatrician with the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) for 12 years, where he has worked with acute, subacute and community-based teams within the Geriatrics service. In 2012, he was appointed as the Clinical Director for Community Integrated and Subacute Services with the SCHHS which has provided him with the privilege of participating in multiple local, State and National forums for health service planning and improvement.

For 6 months in 1998, John worked as an “area-of-need” General Practice registrar in Cohuna in northern Victoria- an experience that he still greatly values as a clinical and personal experience.

Through both his clinical and administrative experience, John has developed insights and an interest in connecting care across the health system from primary care, to hospital care and into community where social networks become vitally important in maintaining a patient’s sense of connection and well-being. John uses this experience and knowledge to provide holistic care that is tailored to his individual patient’s needs and values.

Outside of medical practice, John has an interest in Arts Health (particularly where the arts can be used powerfully to explore issues about ageing, frailty and the end of life). Away from work, he loves spending time with his son, is a dodgy musician (mostly guitar) and an even dodgier surfer.
