Dr Garth McLeod is a Specialist General Surgeon with subspecialty training in obesity and metabolic surgery, operating at Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.
Dr McLeod has purpose built consulting rooms at the Cooloola Centre in Tewantin. Dr McLeod and staff offer patients a warm and friendly environment where they can feel comfortable to make important decisions around surgical and nonsurgical options offered to manage their individual needs. The rooms also offer comprehensive allied health services onsite including dietetics, psychology and an exercise physiology service from their boutique gym.
Dr McLeod graduated from Auckland University School of Medicine in 1998 and spent over ten years working in Surgery and Emergency Medicine. This was primarily in rural hospitals both in New Zealand and Australia. His initial surgical exposure was broad including General Surgery and Urology for six years and five years in Emergency departments. Advanced surgical training was commenced in 2010 and completed in 2014 when he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the specialty of general surgery.
Dr McLeod completed his subspecialty fellowship in bariatrics with Dr George Hopkins in Brisbane. The fellowship was in a high volume practice with a caseload of more than 500 bariatric procedures annually. Based at the Holy Spirit Northside and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals, the caseload included primary, revisional, and complex cases from intra - and interstate sources.
