New Medical Specialist Services now available in Gympie
Jun 13, 2016
A new chapter has begun for Noosa Hospital and its growing team of medical and surgical specialists with the opening this week of consulting suites in Gympie.
Located in Channon Street, within the Friendlies pharmacy building, the new specialist suites are the latest development to come to fruition as part of the hospital’s vision to offer comprehensive and easily accessible specialist services to the residents of Gympie.
Noosa Hospital CEO Jude Emmer said that a large number of Noosa Hospital patients currently travel from Gympie to attend specialist appointments and our aim is to improve access for local residents to the highest quality medical and surgical services, closer to home. The investment by the hospital into the new suites will provide a significant improvement in access.
“Noosa Hospital is a leading private hospital in South East Queensland with very experienced and respected doctors and staff. This latest development will assist the hospital to meet the growing demand for services in the region,” said Ms Emmer.
Gympie residents will no longer need to travel out of the area to consult with a growing number of specialists, close to where they live and close to their support base if further treatment is required,” she said.
Several highly experienced specialists will travel from their base at Noosa and the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital to see patients in the new suites. They include Dr Felicity Adams (Breast & Endocrine Surgeon); Dr Garth McLeod (General & Bariatric Surgeon); Dr Catherine Macintosh (Rehabilitation Medicine Physician); Dr Toby Cohen (Vascular Surgeon); Dr Gerard Kilian (Orthopaedic Surgeon); Dr Jorge do Campo (General Physician); Urologist Dr Stuart Collins and Cardiologists Dr Peter Larsen and Dr Stuart Butterly. Other specialists are planning to offer consultations in Gympie later in the year.
